My year in Vietnam flying into the special forces camp and occasionally seeing you lovelies arrive and depart from Saigon, Bien Hoa, Cam Rahn, really kept the red blood flowing! In addition, after 4 more years flying into and out of Vietnam, I used to fly presidential support for 5 of our US presidents.

AN EXCITING AVIATOR LIFE

For three years I was the commander on a launch crew in charge of an Intercontinental ballistic missile Titan II) with nuclear warhead (which, thank God, we never had to launch), and I have also had 12 fires on aircraft, had one fatality, been intercepted by an UFO, and lost 3 out of four engines in a C-141, but was able, by the grace of God, to fly it back to the airfield (McGuire Air Force Base) some 45 miles away.

Many other things have happened over 21 years of accumulating some 6600+ hours. But it has been my experience that all who fly have some wonderful stories to relate.

PRACTICAL JOKES!!
WHAT WOULD THE WORLD BE WITHOUT A LAUGH NOW AND THEN .....
We pilots (Sigrid Waters' husband was a C-141 flight examiner/instructor pilot until he retired) and loadmasters in the C-141 "Starlifter" had a funny one we pulled on passengers when we flew them somewhere and there was turbulence enroute. The loadmaster (substitute "cabin crewmember") would heat up a can of chunky vegetable soup to body temperature in the oven, then put it in a barf bag and hide it in his flight suit. He would then wobble down the isles toward the back of the aircraft (passengers sat facing backwards). When all people had seen him wobbling and making sick sounds, he then made a show of being verrrry sick into this handy barf bag he just happened to have with him. He would then ask one of the passengers close by to pass said filled, still warm, chunky barf bag back along the rows to the other loadmaster (who was doubled over with mirth) in the front of the cabin to dispose of.
Talk about passengers with a "green" complexion!
