BOY! THOSE WERE THE DAYS!
I flew with Kathy Grandin (Gursel), Ruth Darden,
Barbara Stevens, Sandy Marx, Barbro Lindahl,
Kerstin Dverre, Marilyn Davis (Cooledge),
Lynn Nanery. I can see so many other faces,
but am drawing a blank on names. We all flew out
of New York.
I just recently got a note from Kerstin and am
thrilled to get back in touch with her after so long.
I visited her twice in Sweden right after I left ONA
and had great times there. She is talking about
trying to attend the next reunion and so am I.
One thing we are not clear on, though, is the location
and timeframe. Has it been scheduled yet?
As for places we went to, London, Rome, Frankfurt,
Palma and Torremolinos were the most frequent layovers.
I did have several flights to Japan and 2 into Vietnam,
which was pretty scarey.
One incident I just remembered was taking a MAC flight
to Frankfurt, and, of course, talking to the GI's.
Two years later I had a MAC flight into Vietnam and one
of the guys who had been on the Frankfurt flight was
then headed for Vietnam. I always wondered what
happened to him, especially when he talked non-stop
about his wife and 2 children.
Marilyn Davis was one of my roommates in New York,
and we had a flight together to Torremolinos, with
a 2-day layover scheduled.
On day 3, we all were standing outside the hotel
waiting for the bus and got talking to another
crew from Flying Tigers. It only took a few minutes to
realize that they were taking our scheduled flight back
It seemed that one of our planes had a mechanical
problem so wasn't coming to Malaga for the flight.
We soon found out that the schedulers forgot we were there
and the next flight wasn't coming through for 5 more days.
So, we all took a boat over to Tangiers, stayed for 2 1/2
days and had a ball. Boy, those were the days!!!
You are really bringing back the memories.

LYNN NANNERY AVERY
ONA Christmas Aviation Memory
I donít have an ONA Christmas story to
tell, as I was able (luckily) to spend
all seven of those occasions with my
family. But, would an ONA Thanksgiving
memory count? I think it was 1971 or
í72 when my cabin crew was pulled from
our bid line in Spain and told we had
to work a flight into Nicosia, Cyprus.
When we arrived, (insert interesting
aborted landing story here), we were
told that we had to spend the entire
week in Cyprus and then return with
the same group of passengers. We were
a little upset at missing Thanksgiving
in the US , but the wonderful staff at
the Nicosia Hilton put together a
beautiful feast with turkey and all the
trimmings for us. The folks at Cyprus
Air also helped us with a 2 day visit
to Beirut when that city still looked
like the Paris of the Mediterranean.
All in all, not a bad detour!
Best of the season to all!

RITA HALLAREN SEPPY
Aunt Rita is the best!
Rita Hallaren Seppy and Pia Malm Benson
Kerstin Dverre, Pia Benson and myself
and two dear friends from our time
in New York had a reunion with our friend
in Tampa in October. It was the first
time in 38 years that we reunited and we
had a ball, many memories and a lot of
giggle! Thereafter we Kerstin and myself
visited Rita Seppy in Washington DC. And
that was also fantastic! Rita is an
excellent guide and we experienced new
places and learnt a lot of US history.
It was a magnificent trip.
Greetings to all!
