OCTOBER 2011 ONA Captain Rick Skala passed on October 10, 2011 at 6:30 AM in Charlotte, NC. There will be a service on Friday October 14, 2011 beginning at 6:00 PM with a visitation period of one hour followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM to be held at Central Church of God 5301 Sardis Road Charlotte, NC 28270 704-364-5003. Captain Skala, who after his last flight in the left seat of an ONA DC-10 went on to complete chiropractic school followed by 25 + years of practice first in New York and then in North Carolina. At that time of his death he was still seeing patients each week at age 87. He suffered a major stroke 6 weeks prior to his passing and never fully recovered. He is survived by his wife Katharine, son Richard, daughter Lisbeth, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
