CELEBRATING 45TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
SEPTEMBER 2014 - TO THE SAME AL WHO WAS
CALLING HER IN JAPAN!
VIETNAM AND WORLDWIDE
I volunteered for four tours of Vietnam,
staying in Tokyo for the month.
I was roommates with Connie Wilson, Jeanie
McHugh Shriver and Phoebe Lees.
Having Leo Skelly as ONAīs man in
in Tokio was great and he saw to that we
were all taken care of. He was a great rep.
We were doing the Da Nang and Bien Wa flights
out of Tachikawa. The sweet guy at the desk
at our hotel who used to talk to my fiancé Al,
my now husband, when he would call long distance
and told him he should not call so much
because it was really expensive. Helga Jensen
who was so focused and tough but great fun.
We used to separate the trays and utensils
from the food, because the locals would take
the garbage right from the plane to find the
food left overs. And oh, the heat!

ONE LAST LETTER FOR MOM
The boys we brought in used to give us that one
last letter for mom, or a girlfriend. And of course,
wanting a kiss goodby. But what stands out most
for a young girl like me, was walking over the
tarmac heading to the plane bringing the guys back
and having hundreds of guys yelling their heads off!
Just because you were a woman and you were taking
them home. It was something I will never forget.
Also I was one of the last crews to be picked
up when our contract was up. We stopped in Japan,
Hawaii and Alaska and picked up whole crews.
That was the most fun! So much great food, champagne,
beer ... We danced in the aisle and partied for two
days! Never forget it. Our stays in France, Spain,
England. What an experience!
