Some memorable trips I always recall are the Viet 
Nam tours where the crew left us in Hawaii for 
a month to rest on the beach and hear Don Ho 
sing at night.  

We thought he was so cute with a great voice.  
I was with Judy Lonergan several times for that.
The crew was busy circling the globe, picking up 
troops and delivering, then back to Kennedy.

I took this picture of a milkweed October 2006 
while out for an evening stroll in my condo 
neighborhood.  He and his friends stood like 
soldiers saluting another day coming to an end.  
He caught my eye and I have been in love with 
him ever since.  He is so handsome our local 
Interlude Magazine displayed him on their 
last page. He has been quite popular with 
family and friends ever since.

Viet Nam flights were challenging, 
what a surprise that we were  
flying troops there.  I think many 
of the crew were apprehensive of  
trips to that area.  It was 
interesting to compare the attitude 
of the passengers.  On the way 
there the troops were chatty, some 
even jovial. On the return trip to 
the U.S. they were solemn, digesting  
or pondering what they had seen or 
experienced.  Landing at Ben Wa,  
we could see helicopters patroling 
for snipers.  Our planes returned  
to JFK often with bullet holes in 
them.  While the crew deplaned at  
Ben Wa to file a flight plan, I 
stood on the ramp to take a picture.   
A bomb went off in the distance and 
a big cloud of smoke rose in the  
sky.  A crew member pulled me back 
into the plane.

Theatre, the dazzling Magic of Polynesia 
featuring accomplished illusionist John 
Hirokawa, and acclaimed Elvis impersonator 
Jonathan Von Brana's Blue Hawaii-The Show.
