(Copy from the Las Vegas Sun) A collision between a 2005 Jeep Liberty and a 2009 Ford Focus killed a 78-year-old man visiting Las Vegas this afternoon, Metro Police said. The Jeep, driven by 54-year-old Eloisa Taqueban of Las Vegas, was going west on Sahara Avenue and failed to stop a red light at Commercial Center Drive about 3:07 p.m. Monday, eyewitnesses told police. The Ford was crossing Sahara at Commercial Center on a green light, police said. All three people involved in the crash were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. The 78-year-old man driving the Ford, from Fort Mohave, Ariz., was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. A passenger in the Ford, 66-year-old Carol Gold of Fort Mohave, Ariz., is in critical condition at Sunrise Hospital, police said. Taqueban suffered minor injuries, police said. The collision is under investigation. This is the 54th fatal crash in Metro Police jurisdiction this year.
