Hello ONA, ONA has a special place in my heart! I flew with ONA from 1973-78. Flying out of New York, I remember well all the great ONA experiences. Paris, Amsterdam, London, Rome, Athens! Then the Hadj flights for 5 years and so on. Thanks to you Cecilia Overthrow for having hired me, thanks to Marliese Berger for all your kindness and help throughout my ONA years and thanks to all ONA people for my great experiences. My life changed forever the day I got hired with ONA in LA in 1973. I am presently flying with United Airlines. My first flight attendant experiences with ONA and the 6 years following are an extraordinary memory in my life. My F/A number was 19667 and my training flight was in May 1973, to Paris with a 3 day lay-over, wow, I thought I had gone to heaven! JFK BIRD STRIKE 1975 for Tony Destro fact research documentation I was on board that flight; the DC-10 on November 1975. I was sitting at door 3/R right behind the O/W exit, alone in the row. My handbag laying next to me, with everything in it but the kitchen sink, it was packed for possibly 2 months, going to fly our yearly Hadj flights to Saudi Arabia.. Oh god I remember ! We were on the runway, almost ready to lift off…. then that loud "BANG"!!! Right after that, there were scary big flames pounding against my window. The plane kept rolling for an eternity it seemed, then turning sharply and then stopping. I pulled open my seatbelt and jumped up. Not thinking of my bag I ran across to the left exit that was open. All that was to see was thick and black smoke coming my way. The door at 4/L was open, where I ran to and exited. I remember arriving at the bottom of the slide, loosing one of my shoes and then stumbling over big, hurtful and pointed rocks and I ran and ran away from the plane along the runway. At some point I looked back with pain in my heart not knowing where all my flying partners and passengers were that were on board. I ran to the group of people that were standing together way out on the runway. Shortly after, a bus arrived, which drove us to the Holiday-Inn, where we all frantically looked for each other. With great relieve we found each other and we all were ok. Thanks for the great job of our Captain, we all survived. After all the past years, Burga found me. She emailed and called me one day out of the blue and told me about the ONA website, where I am finding news about the ONA people that stay in touch. Thank you Burga. To all at ONA, I wish you happiness, Heidi Moser at email callheidi@aol.com (Heidi sent a bunch of wonderful photos on pdf files - please dear Heidi load down the photos one by one on .jpg format to be publshed on the web! Thanks for great contributions and all good things your way! Hope you find lots of lost crew colleagues!)
