When I’m not working in Maintenance In Mobile,
Miami, looking at paper work while aircraft
or in Checks or were ever they send me my
other job as a retired US Airways employee
I’ve been working for them as a contractor
sinse 2003. My other job is I oversee the
painting of US Airways aircraft. I have
watched paint dry on over 200 + aircraft from
the 737-200, F-100 to the Airbus A330 in New
Ibera La., Tenn, and Roswell NM were the
Aliens are. This was the first US Airways
aircraft to be painted in the New Livery
Paint for AA it was an A319. I am very
happy to have been a part of this.

David is the one with the hat on!

ONA Newsletter
July 2012

Hello Elisabeth,
I can't began to tell you how much
I have enjoyed reading this Newsletter,
the back of my neck is killing me,
I've got to get off the computer. I go
through and read all these names that
you sent the newletter to and names
like Ed Kaye, Ted Moore,
Ken Cassens, Ruth Perkins,
George Flavell, they jump out
at me and bits and pieces
come to me.

I really love the DC-8,
itīs been around a long time.

ONA mechanic

I started with ONA I can't remember the year
but it was in Norfolk at the Naval Air
Center, we were hauling freight for the Navy.
I worked midnight shift as a mechanic on the
L-188 Electra and DC-9 and then later on the
DC-8 and the DC-10. After closing Norfolk we
moved to Ohio. I did the Hajj, was in Pakistan,
Morocco, I was in Guam when we flew the Vietnamese
out to CA. I can't remember who the Capt's were
on the DC-10. I do remember one guy I worked with
in Norfolk and in Ohio his name was Ted Moore,
he tried to get me to go with him and take flying
lessons and become a Flight Engineer, I said no I
would rather work on them instead of flying them,
well I'm still working with aircraft I started
with Piedmont in 1978 and retired from USAir in
2003 and I've been doing contract work ever since
and I enjoy it, when you see a USAir aircraft
I had the oversite of watching paint dry in
places like New Iberia and Roswell, New Mexico.
In saying all this and running on, if you know
were Ted and these others are, I would love to
talk with them. I live in Lakeland, Fla. and I've
spoken with Joe and Cindy Moser who live in the
Villiages here in Fla. We are planning a visit.
Thanks again, David Williams

The ONA adventure

This is the beginning of an
adventure I never would have
dreamed of. Midtown Manhattan,
the building is still the
same but the name Pan Am is
gone. First time in New York
on my way to Karachi,
Pakistan, going to the Hajj.

KARACHI PAKISTAN

It looks like they have the
drum and bugle corps waiting for
me in Karachi! I wish I could
remember who the captain and
first officer were.

ONAīs lovely flight attendants.
This is Donna Reed.

GUAM

While working the Vietnamese airlift
from Guam to California, ONA
always put us up at the best.
What a great place.

Bill Parks

Captain Bob Love RIP

I was told this is called Loverīs Leap.
When the Japanese occupied Guam,
the residents would tie their hair
together and throw themselves off
the cliff instead of being captured.

Great picture from the balcony.
What a beautiful island Guam is!

ONA heavy in Vietnamese Airlift
Marion Winter

While in Guam I was able to tour
the island. I was taken away by the beauty.

On the way into the hotel -
for $ 5.00 this guy would
let the mungos kill the cobra.

donkey and little boy.
This man picked up trash in the
Medina.

This is our hotel. After leaving Fez
we drove to Casablanca.
