ONA BIRD STRIKE PROJECT

I'm still trying to remember
the name of the f/a on the
front left.

I'm fairly certain the other
two are:

Patrica Duxbury-Hedges
(left rear) and Sue Hawkins
(right).

This picture was taken onboard
N1032F (the a/c that crashed
on 11/12/75) just prior to
boarding at Frankfurt, Germany.

I found some of my pictures
from the ONA days. Back then
I seemed to have a camera stuck
to my eye more often than not.

Here's a photo with Nancy Neil
and Winnie OŽNeil.

We had the day off and hired an
Arab taxi driver to take
us out to the desert near the Red
Sea. He showed us how to catch a
camel. I wonder if Nancy and
Winnie remember that?!
I sure do.

BRIAN VAN HANDEL
I worked for ONA from 1971 to 1975 in
Frankfurt as a ground service manager
and then moved to New York with ONA as
the manager of stewardess scheduling
until April, 1977, when I joined TWA
in Boston as a crew planner. I was
transferred to Kansas City in 1980 and
stayed with TWA until the end...when
AA acquired them in 2001.

During my 37 years in the airline
industry I can honestly say that my
ONA memories are the greatest...
everyone knew how to have a good
time and be a part of a professional
airline at the same time!

Regards,
Brian

I was contacted by Tony Destro who is project manager for the ONA crew web documentation on the 1975 ONA JFK bird strike accident. He asked about our DC-10 accident on 12 November 1975. I am digging up information and pictures for him and I look forward to helping him with his project.

Letter from mr. Bailey thanking
ONA crew for handling the
bird strike accident in such a
professional way.

Thanks Brian for terrific
contributions to the
ONA Crew Web!

I have been collecting airline
memorabilia since 1971. This picture
was taken in my basement and shows
some of my airline stuff.
ONA CREW! Have you more stories on
the 1975 birdstrike? Please submit!
