ONA HADJ KANO AIRPORT NIGERIA
MY ONAWhen I was in DTW, one of the
DC-8s was to ferry over to Slina KS.
Most of the MX REP's either had our
FE lic. or were trying to obtain it.
Whenever there was a Ferry Flt.
we would ask the Capt. permission
to fly as FE (as long as there was a
FE there to watch over us.)
So everything was going fine, the
deadheading cabin attn's were sitting
in the first row of seats with the
cockpit door closed. Then the cockpit
door opened and one of the stew's
(I think it was M. White) saw me.
when she discovered me on the FE panel,
she let out a scream "whats he doing
there, he's the guy who fixes the
coffee makers. "
The FE was Bill Parks and it was OK
with the Capt.
One little memory from those days.

BIG RED - SECRETARIAT
Along with Mel Freedman I met
the DC-9 that brought Big Red (Sectretariat)
into JFK. I also was right on hand when the
L-188 took him to ORD.
Another story that comes to my
mind, was when Secratariat came
into JFK. I was there to meet the
A/C,a DC-9, so I was standing
waiting for the crew to open the
cargo door, and next to me was Mrs
Twitty ( the owner) and the
insurance broker(who was insuring
the horse while he traveled, the
pax door opened and the groom was
there, and he saw us and said that
Big RED banged this head on the
ceiling up front of the cabin,
at this time I looked over at the
insurance man and I thought he was
going to faint. On the DC-9 the
front of the cabin has a section
where the ceiling drops a few inches
compaired to the rest of the cargo
compartment. The ceiling panel where
RED hit his head is of a very soft and
light material,so no harm was done to
the horse, only the A/C had a dent in
CHRISTMAS IN GANDERMy wife is from St. Johns
Newfoundland. When I was with
Seaboard I knew the Maint.
Reps stationed at Gander.
So when Christmas got near,
the guys would put a Xmas tree
on board one of the planes that
stopped for fuel. They all knew
my wife was a NUFFIE. Back in
those days it was Seaboard's
DC-4's & Connies.
SAUDI WITH UACIAfter the demise of the blue
