Margie in the DC-10 engine
I wound up with ONA in the spring
of 1972 after a brief 6 weeks flying
with Universal Airlines when Universal
was bankrupt. ONA hired many of us
and I stayed with ONA until the end
in 1978. I married in 1974 and was
widowed in 2002. After ONA, I did
temporary office work until I was
placed with a travel company that
specializes in booking passengers on
working freighter ships.
I stayed
there for 17 years, eventually becoming
President and CEO and owning part of the
business until I retired and sold my
interest in the company in 1998.
I traveled a lot, both foreign and in
the U.S., all related to the freighter
travel business. I live in Altadena,
near Pasadena, California and spend much
of each summer at our family cabin on
Fallen Leaf Lake, near Lake Tahoe.
My husband and I did a lot of cruise
ship travel and I continue to enjoy
cruising. Last fall I took a month
long Mediterranean cruise and have another
booked for this fall.
I am an avid opera
lover and do a lot of volunteering for
Los Angeles Opera. I enjoy hiking and
gardening. I try to stay connected,
re-connect and make new ONA friends!
